We have been speaking to the School about the untapped opportunities for parents to get involved and help out. There are loads of ways for you to share your knowledge, expertise and skills with the boys. The School would welcome parent speakers for Assemblies and class group 'Life Skills' sessions. We also know that some people are more comfortable working with small groups of boys - and there are many opportunities for this too, so don't be shy.
Some suggestions: Could you say something about the work of a particular charity? Would you like to talk about an aspect of your religion or discuss a difficult moral problem? Have you been on an intrepid holiday? Could you give an illustrated talk? It would be great if staff could call on parents to talk about subjects outside themain curriculum. History of art, animals, architecture, astronomy... There may be other things you would enjoy doing with the school. Could you help coach a sport or chess or bridge? Would you like to teach boys to cook, to dance or to take photographs?
The school would really appreciate seeing more parents getting involved in these ways. It would benefit the boys, the School and be fun and rewarding for you!
